BMW MOTORRADRIDE MATCH

Know the rider. Understand the ride. Find the match.

Don’t choose a motorcycle. Choose the one that fits your life.

THE THOUGHT

Buying a motorcycle often starts with the wrong question:“Which bike do I want?”Ride Match starts somewhere more useful:“How do I actually ride?”This concept reimagines the BMW Motorrad purchase journey as an intelligent decision experience—understanding the rider first, then translating lifestyle, experience, body fit, riding patterns and priorities into a personalised motorcycle recommendation.

SPEC SHEET TO LIFE SHEET

Instead of leading with horsepower, engine size and technical specifications, Ride Match puts the rider at the centre.

My lifestyle → My riding → My practical needs → My priorities → My BMW

The experience considers commuting, touring, adventure, passenger use, distance, terrain, comfort, experience level, physical fit and ownership priorities before recommending a motorcycle.

THE INTELLIGENT MATCH

The core experience is a personalised Ride Match.

BMW R 1300 GS — 94% lifestyle fit

But the recommendation doesn't stop at a score.

It explains:

Why it fits
Touring capability · mixed-road versatility · passenger comfort

Where to think twice
Weight · physical footprint · urban manoeuvrability

The AI acts as a decision partner, not a salesperson—making the reasoning and trade-offs visible.

TEST THE BIKE AGAINST REAL LIFE

A specification can tell you what a motorcycle is.

A scenario can tell you whether it belongs in your life.

Ride Match lets riders test their shortlist against everyday situations:

MONDAY — Commute
SATURDAY — Coastal ride
SUNDAY — Two-up journey
HOLIDAY — Long-distance touring

The experience translates technical capability into something much easier to understand:

“Will this bike actually work for me?”

THE DIFFERENTIATOR

Most motorcycle configurators help people choose a bike.

Ride Match helps people understand their choice.

It makes the invisible part of the purchase visible:

fit · confidence · trade-offs · lifestyle compatibility

That changes the experience from browsing motorcycles to making a decision.

UX PROCESS

Discover → Define → Structure → Ideate → Design → Validate

I mapped the motorcycle decision journey, defined the rider-centred opportunity, created the information architecture, explored scenario-based matching and AI guidance, then designed and refined the mobile experience through prototype walkthroughs.

MEASURING SUCCESS

As a concept, the experience was designed around measurable product outcomes rather than visual appeal alone.

Target outcomes:

↓ Decision friction
Fewer steps and less information overload before reaching a shortlist.

↑ Recommendation confidence
Users understand why a bike is recommended and what trade-offs exist.

↑ Product discovery
More riders discover motorcycles beyond their initial preference.

↑ Test-ride intent
A clearer match creates a stronger path from exploration to test ride.

↑ Personalisation
A rider profile becomes the foundation for a more relevant BMW Motorrad experience.

Key success metric:
% of riders who reach a confident shortlist and proceed to a test-ride action.

THE INTERFACE
